Your pregnancy in the end of first trimester

First trimester is an important journey for the women who are enjoying their pregnancy. It is the most crucial time that remarks the beginning of the making of your baby. After it is confirmed that you are pregnant and first pregnancy ultrasound has been done, you will almost be in the end of your first trimester. Thus, by the time you are a 9 weeks pregnant woman, you will be able to realize that something is there inside your belly. Week 9 is the end of the embryo period as it will now develop into a fetus and it is in the beginning phase to move around inside the uterus.

During pregnancy, your body will undergo a lot of changes. It is important to monitor that pregnancy symptoms week by week. Some of the most common types of physical symptoms which you are likely to see in your body when you are in the week 9 of your pregnancy include:

3- Breasts become fuller and tender

5- Bloating
6- Constipation
7- Headache/Migraine
8- Vomiting and nausea

In addition to these, weight gain is also obvious with the growth of your fetus. It is important to monitor your growing weight to know the growth of your fetus.

Size of your baby in week 9 of Pregnancy

If you are monitoring your pregnancy week by week, then it will be exciting for you to know that your baby is now of the size of a cherry or an olive. Your baby is about one inch long and weighs around .07 ounces. Placenta is developed now to hold the weight of your fetus in your uterus. On touching the belly, moms can find that it has turned little bit firmer. There will be a slight bulging but often not recognized.

Growth of your fetus

In this week, the growth of your baby is picking up the steam and is now a fetus. Your fetus will have a straightened head and spine. Other essential organs like ears, nose, brain and kidney also develops in this week. The embryonic tail will be gone and the heart gets the finishing 4 chambers for rhythmic beating. There will be external sex organs but unrecognizable. Tiny fingers are also growing with the length of the fetus. Eyes also get formed in this week but they will remain close till the 27th week of your pregnancy. Overall, you can say that the physiology of your baby is ready and now it will continue to gain weight rapidly till the baby is born.

Listen to the heartbeat of your child

It may be too early for you to feel your baby in the 9h week but it I not too early to listen to the heartbeat of your baby. By this point of time, the heartbeats of your baby can be heard with the help of an ultrasound. Doppler’s handheld ultrasound device is capable of amplifying the lub-dub sound of the heart of your baby which is at the rate of about 160-170 beats per minute. Sometimes, it is possible that this ultrasound is not able to record the sound of the heartbeat and this happens because the baby is hiding in some corner of your uterus. May be on the next visit to a sonographer, Doppler’s ultrasound device would be capable of making baby’s heartbeat audible.

9th week ultrasound

If you have not visited your gynecologist till now then it is the time when you should go to meet your doctor. Most probably, your doctor will ask for the ultrasound test for your pregnancy so that the growth of the fetus can be monitored. At the 9th week of pregnancy, transvaginal ultrasound is done. Since, the uterus gets behind your pelvic zone so the ultrasound device is inserted into the vagina to get the images of your 9 weeks fetus on the screen. This ultrasound can also confirm if the pregnancy is uterine or not. More distinct features of the fetus can also be seen in this ultrasound.

Checkups to be done

The growth of the fetus can be checked during the ultrasound. Apart from this, doctors suggest, various other types of tests for the moms to be. This helps in ensuring that moms have better health to support their pregnancy and deliver a healthy baby. Around week 9, your doctor can ask for the blood test to check the blood group, hormone level, protein level, RBC and WBC count, and risks of other health issues. Tests for abnormalities are also done. Tests for the pelvic cancer, urine infection and STDs are also done at this time.

Weekly tips for soon-to-be mommies

• For all the soon-to-be mommies, who are in their 9th week of pregnancy, get all the tests done that outweigh the risk to your pregnancy.
• Make sure that you avoid all those exercises and physical activities that put strains on your joints or belly.
• Use the bra that provides full support to your breast which get fuller and tender by this week.
• If you are feeling the heartburn sensation which happens due to gas, then avoid eating spicy food.
• Sleep on your left side. It will prevent your growing uterus to put pressure on the intestine and keep a smoother blood flow.
• Immediately visit your doctor, if the bleeding occurs. It could be a sign of miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy.

In addition to these, moms to be have to be careful about their eating habit. It will help in nourishing their body well which automatically gives the fuller nutrition to the fetus to grow healthy.
