After all, they have experienced missed period and undergone the urine test to confirm their pregnancy. When you are 5 weeks pregnant, the pregnancy hormones in your body are at the highest levels which highlight various symptoms of pregnancy in your body. You will experience tenderness of breast, fatigue, bloating and more. Apart from these, you will be driven by the ocean of emotions which is a very common symptom during pregnancy week by week.

Baby’s development in the week 5

Deep inside your uterus, the embryo is developed at the commencement of the 5th week of your pregnancy. The placenta is still not completely formed in this week yet the growth of embryo continues to become fetus. At this point of time, the size of the embryo is not more than the size of the sesame seed and it looks like a tadpole rather than a human baby.

Development of organs: The mesoderm, the ectoderm and the endoderm are the three layers of which the embryo at this stage is made of. These layers will further develop into different organs of your baby. Some of the cells have now developed into neural lube. This will later become the spinal cord of the baby. The lube shaped heart is developed in the embryo with uncoordinated beating. During this week, the development of brain and ear also begins.

Symptoms that your body can experience during 5th week of Pregnancy

Pregnancy symptoms week by week change automatically. There is no need to worry if you experience following symptoms in your 5 weeks of pregnancy:

Food cravings: Changing hormones of your body results in the food craving. It is absolutely normal and you can get everything which you feel like to eat. Make sure that you take limited amount of food and avoid all those foods which your body can’t stand at this point of time. You can look for the substitutes to satisfy your cravings.

Excessive salivation: It is confusing to withstand the morning sickness with excessive saliva. It is the most common symptom which a pregnant lady can experience from her 5th week. Sugarless gums can help you to keep your mouth dryer.

Excessive tiredness: Your body is now involved in the development of embryo implanted in your uterus hence it is obvious to feel tired all the time. Listen to the call of your body to rest so that formation of placenta and development of embryo can take place without any problem.

Precautions to take during the 5th week of pregnancy

Take proper rest: Take plenty of sleep to feel relaxed and comfortable. Immediately take the help of your doctor if you experience the serious cramp or pain in your stomach. Avoid doing heavy work. However, you should continue the right impact exercises to stay healthy and fit.

Take right amount of folic acid: As you already know that the formation of spine takes place in this week so there is a need to take care of your health for the right formation of spine. If the neural lube is wrongly formed then it can cause spina bifida and other kind of spine related disorders in the embryo. Start including at least 400 mg of Folic acid in your diet to promote the good development of your embryo. Peanuts, hazelnuts, brown rice, sprouts and spinach are some good sources of folic acid.

Foods to avoid: Stop eating unpasteurized foods and some kinds of fish. You also have to avoid uncooked meats and eggs if your 5 weeks pregnant. These types of food can cause various types of food borne diseases which can lead to miscarriage.

Completely abstain from drinking and smoking: Alcohol and smoking can be fatal for the embryo and may result in the termination of your pregnancy. Thus, avoid drinking and smoking.

Stay happy: your emotional well-being is beneficial for the stability of your pregnancy. It plays an important role in the implantation of embryo. Thus, when it is confirmed that you are pregnant and its already week 5, then keep away all the things that can bring you stress.

Week 5 ultrasound scanning

Everyone knows that in the present time, ultrasound scan is the best method to confirm your pregnancy and to ensure that your baby is developing in the right manner. Due to the advancement of technologies, various types of ultrasound technologies have been developed. However, in the 5th week of pregnancy which has occurred naturally there is no need of ultrasound. When pregnancy has occurred through IVF treatment then pregnancy ultrasound in the 5th week is probably an important test.

Scan for the important pregnancy factors: Ultrasound in the 5th week will help to get a clear insight if the implantation has occurred successfully or not. It can clearly show the insight of your uterus and the embryo planted in it. Normal ultrasound scan can be able to detect the heartbeat of the baby in this week. Number of babies, position of the placenta and ectopic pregnancy can be identified in the ultrasound in the 5th week.

Details of the 5 weeks pregnancy ultrasound: For many of the women, the ultrasound at the 5th week can be the first ultrasound for pregnancy, if they have realized their pregnancy late. External ultrasound enables the doctor to see the gestational sac and yolk sac. Yolk sac and fetal pole in different sac can be seen if you are carrying fraternal twins.

In case, you are carrying the identical twins then there will be two yolk sacs and one gestational sac. In the pregnancy of 5 weeks, the gestational sac will measure 6 to 12 mm. Yolk sac can be easily detected by the doctor through transvaginal ultrasound. There are some spaces at the implantation site. Sometimes, the cardiac motion is seen in the embryo which is 2mm-3mm long. This is super exciting for soon-to-be parents to see the images of their growing baby through ultrasound.

Experience early pregnancy symptoms

There are changes in the pregnancy symptoms week by week so when you are 4 weeks pregnant, you will start to experience bloating. Bloating occurs due to the high production of progesterone in your body. Your stomach may gurgle and there will be more production of gas in your stomach which can cause a little bit of pain.

Cramping is also common but sometimes women misunderstand it as the symptom of the menstrual cycle if it occurs with spotting.

Mood swing is another common symptom that women face during 4 weeks of pregnancy. It happens due to the changes in the hormone level in your body. Feeling exhausted all the time is also very common during this week of pregnancy.

But, Don’t worry about the spotting

It is the fact that most of the women will miss their period when they are 4 weeks pregnant however some of the women can experience spotting. This can be due to the implantation of the egg in the uterus which results in the removal of some blood vessel. Very light bleeding followed by cramping can be there and it is normal. If you experience the spotting for more than a couple of days even if you are confirmed pregnant through the urine test then you need to see your doctor soon.

4-week pregnancy scan

After you are confirmed with pregnancy through the urine test, your doctor may ask for the ultrasound for full confirmation. It is the sure-short method to confirm the pregnancy. It also ensures that the embryo reaches the final point otherwise it can start developing in the birth canal which can result in ectopic pregnancy. With the help of ultrasound, the “gestational sac or yellow body” of pregnancy can be identified. This yellow body is responsible for making the nutrition for the fetus and it grows continuously. This gestational sac can be clearly seen in the 4th week of pregnancy. However, if the level of hCG has increased high between 2500 – 3500 mIU/mL then it will not be possible to see this sac easily. In such cases, the sac will be visible at the end of the 5th week of pregnancy.

Stabilize your pregnancy with some precaution

There are chances of miscarriage during 4 weeks of pregnancy. The common cold is one of the factors that can provoke a miscarriage. At the 4 weeks of pregnancy, the embryo is very delicate and can be easily influenced by changing factors. Thus, you should avoid going to any place where you can get any kind of infection. Along with this, you should immediately report to the doctor if you experience high temperature with the common cold. It can be fatal for your embryo. Any kind of stress or emotional imbalance can also affect your pregnancy. So, try to remain healthy and happy after it is confirmed that you are pregnant.

Nutrition support that you should give to 4 weeks pregnancy

Vitamin C is the essential nutrient that should be taken during the 4 weeks of pregnancy. This nutrient is helpful in the formation of healthy life cells. It also helps in the normal functioning of collagen in your body that gives support to the formation of tissues and organs. Vitamin C also favors the formation of the placenta and makes it strong enough to hold the embryo. Raw Spinach, steamed broccoli, citrus fruits, tomatoes, and strawberries are the rich sources of Vitamin C.

Low impact exercises are good. If you have been a fitness freak from the beginning then you should reduce the workout session time. Avoid going to the gym rather do some low impact exercises. During 4 weeks of pregnancy, women can still do exercises in which they need to lie on their stomach but avoid it if you feel any inconvenience or if there is more impact on your stomach. Low impact exercises like walking, swimming, water aerobics are good for your health as it will increase the level of endorphins. This helps in reducing bloating, mood swings and pregnancy anxieties. It will also make your delivery normal. If you have already suffered miscarriage previously then avoids exercising at all.

Important checklist to follow during the 4th week of pregnancy

It is important that you should avoid drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes at this point in time. Start eating lots of protein and keep yourself well hydrated. Avoid doing intense exercises and take care that your body does not get overheated. Heat can influence your embryo and can result in miscarriage. Make an appointment with your doctor to confirm your pregnancy and the right implantation of the embryo.

Soon after the conception occurs the HCG hormone level increases in your blood and urine. This hormone is formed when the fertilized eggs get attached to the walls of the uterus. Besides the missed period, there are other pregnancy symptoms 2 weeks before period which are explained below:-

This is the early signs of pregnancy in the first 2 weeks.

2) cramps in early pregnancy 2 weeks:

About one week after ovulation, few ladies may experience lower stomach cramping which is also known as ‘implantation cramping’ because of the ongoing implantation of the fertilized egg within the walls of the uterus. Sometimes, it may also be combined with spotting. Women may feel cramps in early pregnancy 2 weeks because of the extending and developing of the uterus. These cramps are typically sporadic and last a little while.

Ovulation symptoms at the 2nd Week

However, you may face several types of physical discomfort because of the hormone fluctuation. During this week, the embryo grows at a faster rate than any other time. Whether it is the boy or the girl is also decided in this week. Many of the women generally don’t realize that they are actually pregnant during the second week. They take next two weeks as well to get the confirmation. However, they can monitor their ovulation cycle.
